Members of WIZO Rome at the Rebecca Sieff WIZO Center for the Family, Bet Hakerem, Jerusalem

On May 1, 2006, a group of WIZO members from Rome, Italy, arrived for a week-long tour in Israel, including a visit to WIZO projects in Israel. The tours of the projects were organized in cooperation with the World WIZO Tourist Department. WIZO Rome is headed by two Co-Presidents. One of them, Mrs. Claudia Ottolenghi, headed the group.

On the first day of their tour, the chaverot visited the Rebecca Sieff WIZO Center for the Family in Bet Hakerem, Jerusalem. They were welcomed by Mrs. Ruthie Rubenstein, Chairperson of the World WIZO Division of Formal and Informal Education.

The Rebecca Sieff WIZO Center for the Family is active in various service spheres for the local population. During the tour the members of the group visited the day care center, its kitchen, the vocational secondary school, the counseling center for women who are victims of violence, and the pedagogical center. The WIZO Rome members were deeply impressed with the wide variety of services at the Center, and by the esthetic and well-kept grounds.

WIZO Italy sponsors four projects in Israel -- two youth clubs and two day care centers. The members on tour also visited the day care center they sponsor in the Yovel neighborhood of Rehovot. We wish them success in all their future endeavors.
